To Obtain Your Goal of Becoming A Top Woman Executive You Have To Push Forward

Desperate to find the right job, but don't know where to turn? You have the skills, but you don't know how to capitalize on them? You took all the right classes and got all the right certifications, but you still can't catch a break. All you want to do is get your foot in the door, an opportunity to prove yourself.

You interview but you still don't get the dream job. You feel stagnant, as if your career is going nowhere fast. Well join the majority of women in middle management positions. You're not complacent. You're stuck! You go to work everyday staring success right in the face. Yet you can't figure out how to get your piece of the pie.

According to a phenomenological study done on female executives in IT companies in the Washington, DC area (Page, 2005), the #1 way to push forward to the executive level is to start your own business. Not a bad idea if you really think you are that good at what you do.

But what if your are not quite there yet. Don't give up. There are several things to consider while you are in pursuit of obtaining your goal of being an executive:

1) If you feel you deserve a promotion, ask for one.

2) Be prepared to bring a certain amount of expertise to the     position.

3) Be willing to move to take a better position.

4) Take risk and stay focused.

5) Take challenging jobs.

6) Calculate how you contribute to the bottom line.

7) Learn how to control your emotions.
